Strawberries reacting to humans

Today, I found myself thinking whether strawberries are self-aware and know that despite common perception, they are in fact, not a berry. Picture this. Strawberries just hang out in a bunch giggling to each other, making fun of humans for perceiving them to be berries. They even laugh at the fact that we call them strawberries. Collectively, strawberries like to call themselves “agape”.

Did you really think, I was questioning whether a fruit was self-aware! No, I wouldn’t give them so much credit. Though, I know for a fact that a tomato sure does know it’s a vegetable.

As individuals, we create an image of ourselves. The accuracy of this image depends on how self-aware we are, and that seems fair. It’s fascinating, however, that someone else probably doesn’t perceive you the way you perceive yourself. Perceptions may differ because of multiple reasons – social, the upbringing, bias, or just that you’re not a fan of their favorite fruit. The How To Fascinate Test by Sally Hogshead is incredible. I’ll include the details at the end of the post so you can read more about it. But it essentially articulates how somebody else perceives you and which of your traits fascinate them.

The Artisan

The test reaffirms some of my beliefs about me being deliberate, flexible and trustworthy. The Artisan likes to create and is considered loyal through dependability and flexibility. In my experience, I’ve found thinking things through, whether it’s at work, or in my personal life. I usually consider multiple scenarios before I make a decision, but I do find that in some cases, my instinct does usually lead me in the right path with some of my impulsive decisions. Something that I have struggled with is being taken more seriously. It’s very interesting that the test identified that aspect as well.

It’s very comforting when a credible external source validates something you believe about yourself. Because the test resonated with me and my idea of self, it’s no surprise that I trust it more. I’m now able to, digest the feedback and make sure that I work on both my strong and opportunity areas. It is also encouraging that the test considers me entrepreneurial. I’m now motivated to start my own, Fruit reviewing company. I’ll call it, “This Is Fruits”.

As a Marketer

A marketer faces multiple challenges, not only as an individual in a work environment, but also as somebody who thinks for a brand. One of the primary advantages of the Fascination Test is its application to improve the way you work and communicate with people you work with. It identifies your strongest suits and areas that need improvement and honing. Beyond the workplace, every marketer must be the custodian for a brand, and it’s vital that one gives thought to the customer’s perception of the brand. Additionally, if one understands the customers, it is easier to identify what traits, activities, individuals and processes will add value to the customers.

I consider myself fortunate to be able to take this test and find that I am not, in fact completely delusional about myself and now, more than ever, I am looking forward to, “This Is Fruits”
